As an adult human, you may have up to 32 teeth (that is the average and normal number). Teeth that we use to chew our foods or bite anything. Some people have less teeth due to their own reasons, may because they already got them extracted or what not. But take a look at our main topic for today. A weird man from India (probably the man with the highest number of teeth in the world), gets them all extracted! Weird and bizarre, eh?
Doctors from India took 7 hours to get 232 teeth extracted from the mouth of a 17 year old boy. Ashik Gavai, was brought to the hospital with a swelling in his right jaw which he has been suffering for 18 months.
Local doctors failed to identify his health condition issue so he had to travel to the city to get help. Doctors are puzzled and described his condition as very rare and a world record!
Ashik was diagnosed as a 'complex composite odontoma' where a single gum forms lots of teeth. And what made his condition critical was the tendency of it to form a tumor.
Two surgeons did the 7 hour critical operation last Monday. Doctors said that they had not seen anything like this before after 30 years.
Now, Ashik looks good and have 28 teeth left.
